Where to ski, eat, and play for a guys-only spring weekend

Spring Break In park City

With world-class skiing, great food, and some of the finest watering holes in all of Ski Country, Park City is perfect for a dudes-only spring getaway.

Park City’s proximity to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) makes it easy to get in three days on the slopes over a long weekend or spring break.

Day One

After checking in to your hotel or condo, get geared up and walk  to Park City Mountain Resort’s town lift. Warm up by cruising some spring corduroy off the Silverlode Chair. These mainly intermediate runs will acclimate you to the altitude before challenging yourself to PCMR’s high-alpine terrain. When you’re ready, head to Jupiter Bowl to jump-turn your way through expert-level, tree-lined chutes. Close out the day by making sun-soaked laps on McConkey’s chair, named after legendary skier Shane McConkey.

Hungry? Head up the Crescent Express chairlift and enjoy cold drinks and delicious mountaintop bites in a Viking Yurt. On the way downhill, click out of your bindings for a drink and a bite at High West Distillery & Saloon—the world’s only ski-in distillery. Sample its signature Deadman’s Boot cocktail while savoring house-baked pretzels and three-bean chili.

After dinner, head up Main Street to Flanagan’s to keep the spring break party going. Whether you prefer to watch the game upstairs or catch a live show downstairs, this is where you’ll get the best Guinness pour in town.

Day Two

Regardless of whether the previous night was restful or restless, you’ll want to muster all of your energy to ski Canyons Resort, the largest ski area in Utah. Fill up on a hearty breakfast at The Eating Establishment before a quick drive to Canyons.

Start off riding the Orange Bubble Express—the world’s first heated chairlift—for the novelty…and the warm buns. From there, you can explore over 4,000 acres of skiable terrain scattered across nine peaks. The short hike to access expert chutes off the top of the Ninety-Nine 90 lift is a must. This steep terrain often reveals untouched spring powder—even days after a storm. When your ski day is done, head to Drafts in the Village for local beers and its famous Tatchos, a delicious hybrid of tater tots and nachos.

Ready to go out big in Park City? Tonight’s the night. Head to Chimayo for upscale Southwestern cuisine. Follow dinner by barhopping your way up Main Street until you reach The Spur—an iconic Park City bar and live-music joint.

Day Three

There’s no time to rest on your final day in Park City. Unlock the secrets of the past and discover Park City’s rich mining, skiing and local history on the Silver to Slopes Historic Mining Tour. If adrenaline is more your speed, check out the Mountain Coaster. Climb into the toboggan-style cars of the Alpine Coaster and get ready for the ride of your life.

Sadly, your spring Park City guys’ spring getaway does have to end, but before it does, call in a take-out order from Maxwell’s to scoop up on your way back down to SLC. Try their Fat Kid Pizza to savor that last bit of Park City flavor before boarding your flight home.
