WHISTLER MONTH BY MONTH
Are you thinking of coming to Whistler, but not sure exactly when to book?
Here’s a month by month rundown of what to expect while you’re here.
NOVEMBER
The stoke level around town is super high in November with Opening Day penciled into everyone’s calendar.
Prior to opening day, people are getting their gear ready and watching as many ski and snowboard movies as possible. They don’t have to wait long though, opening day is typically in the second or third week in November, and then all bets are off.
With fewer guests in town you can expect smaller lift lines and great deals around town on accommodation and food.
DECEMBER
This is when things really start to kick off. Christmas, as you can imagine is incredibly magical, and also very popular. If you’re planning on coming over the Christmas holidays I recommend booking well in advance.
Don’t forget to book your lessons as well, many people forget and it sells out over this time frame. The beginning of December is also a fantastic time to visit. After being open for a few weeks, the terrain options vastly expand meaning you can get amazing turns with smaller crowds.
JANUARY
If you love mountain views, January is a prime time to visit. Between pow days the skies open up for the most stellar bluebird days. The iconic backdrop of the coastal mountains and the famous Black Tusk are unparalleled in January.
However, this is also a very popular time of year, so make sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
FEBRUARY
By February we’re in the heart of the season. Powerhounds descend on town because the snowpack is deep and the pow days are plentiful. If you don’t own powder skis, I highly recommend renting a pair.
The gear really does make a difference and the shops have a wide selection of options to suit the conditions. There’s also no more romantic place to spend your Valentine’s Day than on top of a mountain.
Don’t forget to book in for a lunch at Christine’s to enjoy a toast with your special someone.
MARCH
While other resorts start to ramp down in March, we still have lots of season left. I love March for its sunny days and surprise powder mornings.
Some of the best days I’ve had on the hill have been in March when the snow is deep and the lines are short.
APRIL
If you love sunshine and short lines, April is for you. The patios are buzzing and the groomers carve like butter, perfect for relaxed laps with friends and warm après sessions.
