Beaver Creek Vertical Ascent Challenge - Beaver Creek

Adventure sport returns to Beaver Creek with this six-hour lapped race for individuals or teams. Ascend Beaver Creek Mountain via Overlook Trail and ride the chairlift down. Repeat. As many times as you can in six hours.

Join the giants of jazz for the 14th annual Labor Day Weekend Party presented by the Vail Jazz Festival. Ticketed event features performances by living legends and the young lions on the jazz scene today - in a unique format that is truly a "party" for all jazz fans. The 2008 Festival will take place at Vail Cascade and features The Clayton Brothers Quintet, Hendrik Meurkens Samba Jazz Quintet, and the legendary Jimmy Bruno trio.

Solo performers include saxophonist Joel Frahm, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, pianists Benny Green and Don 'Papadon' Washington, Ann Hampton Callaway, and B-3 player Tony Monaco. Bill Cunliffe will also play and present a salute to Horace Silver, and the VJF Allstars will share their unique blend of jazz with festival audiences.

Rotary Duck Race - Vail

The Vail Rotary's Rubber Duck Race is held annually in Vail Village. Rotarians sell sponsorships and "duck adoption papers" during the weeks prior to the race. On race day,about 10,000 yellow rubber ducks are dumped into Gore Creek near the Covered Bridge and "race" down the river to the finish line underneath the International Bridge. Prizes are given to those holding the adoption papers for the winning racers. This has become a hugely popular event for locals and visitors alike.

Colorado Grand - Vail

The Colorado Grand, which begins and ends in Vail, is a 1,000-mile rally held each Septebmer in Colorado and uses its proceeds to benefit several worthy Colorado-based charitable organizations. The event is limited to 75 cars which much meet an eligibility criteria. Eligibile cars must be classified as historic or vintage race cars or sports cars of distinction built in 1960 or before.
