What goes better with on-mountain exertion (and subsequent sore muscles) than a little off-slope pampering?

Whether you’re recovering from a day on the hill or just soaking up the soothing Rocky Mountain experience, the Vail-Beaver Creek area has plenty to offer in the way of relaxation.

Allegria Spa, Beaver Creek Park Hyatt

Located at the foot of Beaver Creek, the Allegria Spa offers sore skiers the Arnica Sports Relief Cure, a must-try relaxation and restoration package (one hour and 40 minutes).

First, you’ll soak in a hot bath infused with arnica, eucalyptus, and juniper—plants that soothe, heal, and relax muscles.

A deep-tissue massage and hot-stone treatment follow, melting away any remaining tension.

The treatment finishes with a moisturizing and pain-relieving wintergreen body butter rub, an herbal body wrap, and a neck and scalp massage.

You’ll walk—er, float—away refreshed and relieved.

Tip: Arrive early to enjoy Allegria’s unique Aqua Sanitas Water Sanctuary, a five-stage hydrotherapy circuit that promotes healing.

Modeled on ancient Roman baths, the sanctuary—complimentary with any treatment—features thermal and mineral pools, a cooling rain shower, a wintergreen-scented steam room, and a heated aromatic lounge space.

RockResorts Spa at The Arrabelle at Vail Square

Ski boots are hard on feet: Aching arches, painful toenails, and cold appendages are par for the course after a day of skiing.

So if soaking in a tub of aromatic warm water and having them massaged sounds like a Godsend after a day on the slopes, visit the Arrabelle and book RockResorts Spa’s Pedi on the Rocks.

This deluxe pedicure starts with a footbath teeming with healing essential oils.

Choose cedar to alleviate stiffness, lavender for achy muscles and relaxation, or geranium to promote circulation and emotional balance.

Next, feet are exfoliated, moisturized, and gently massaged with warm stones.

You’ll leave with a legitimate bounce to your step.

Spa Anjali, Westin Riverfront

One of the top spas in the country, Spa Anjali—which means, “divine offering” in Sanskrit—will transport you to a faraway land of bliss.

The 27,000-square-foot facility at the Westin Riverfront in Avon offers three distinct “journeys,” themed around the Rocky Mountains, Himalayas, and Alps.

Each package features a menu of à la carte treatments inspired by the healing practices of its namesake region.

Our favorite? The Rocky Mountain Journey, of course.

The Rocky Mountain Journey’s Ponderosa Pine Therapy incorporates traditional Native American remedies—sage, pine, and lavender—into a 75-minute, deep-tissue massage that alleviates inflammation, tension, and muscle pain.

Top that off with the Red Clover and Mountain Honey Body Mask Divine, a moisturizing herbal body wrap that will revitalize weary muscles and dry skin.

You’ll be recharged and ready for the mountain—or for whatever life throws your way.

RockResorts Spa at The Lodge at Vail

Just steps away from Gondola One, the RockResorts Spa at the Lodge at Vail offers the Muscle Relief Body Wrap, an 80-minute, tension-melting treatment that uses a variety of herbs, oils, and a clay mask to soothe tender joints and muscles.

The treatment starts with dry brushing—a technique that exfoliates and smoothes skin, reduces cellulite, and detoxifies the body.

Dry brushing also helps the skin absorb the healing Moroccan rhassoul clay your therapist will apply next.

Mined in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, this mineral-rich clay absorbs impurities and infuses the skin with calming and rejuvenating minerals like magnesium and iron.

Next, you’ll be rubbed down with a blue tansy, peppermint, and sweet-birch essential-oil mixture, which moisturizes the skin and quiets the mind.

When the treatment is over, relax fireside at one of several outdoor fire pits.

Aria Spa, Vail Cascade Resort

Exposure to sun, cold, wind, and the dry mountain air will do a number on the face.

Thankfully, Vail Cascade Resort’s Aria Spa has the Signature HydraFacial

The 50-minute treatment features hydradermabrasion and vortex infusion, which extracts impurities and massages hydrating, moisturizing, and sun-protecting serums deep into the skin for an extra soft, glowing, SPF-loaded result.

Conveniently located at the bottom of lift 20, the Aria (complete with a cozy lounge and roaring fireplace), is the perfect après ski alternative to a rowdy bar.

Complete your pampering with a glass of champagne and a dip in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the babbling Eagle River.
