Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Blue Sky Basin? Is it part of Vail?

Blue Sky Basin

Blue Sky Basin is the newest addition of 645 acres of terrain at Vail Mountain and faces Vail's famous back bowls.

It is accessible from the Sky Line Express lifts at the bottom of Tea Cub Bowl and China Bowl. Follow the bumps and glades of The Divide and you'll be at the top of the ridge where you'll be surrounded by backcountry terrain.

Completed in December 2000, this new terrain now offers skiers and snowboarders a unique wilderness experience. Free guided tours of Blue Sky Basin were offered last winter to better acquaint riders on how to access the terrain.
